Hlavička Tomáš / Praha 1950 /
Zejdlik
clear glass with fused silver flakes, signed Hlavička 2017, 13.5 ×35 ×20.5 cm (Zí)
The work is from the author’s studio.
Tomáš Hlavička studied architecture at the CTU. He started working with glass in the early 1980s, when he became the son-in-law of Pavel Hlava, with whom he collaborated. He has been a freelance artist since 1986. The author uses his own technique, with which he fuses gold and silver flakes with glass, creating an effect of waving grass or seaweed. He then cuts the objects into precise shapes, which have a playfulness of colors and reflections, creating a sort of movement inside the glass. This optical movement is in contrast with the geometrically precise dimension of the work and its perfect proportions.
